Warning: Real Life Post Ahead. Airing my laundry included!

okay, it’s usually not a good sign when you start crying at the very beginning of a blog post is it?
Well, I am.
Wednesdays are usually the day I host my Recipe Roundup.
But I feel that tonight (Tuesday) as I write this, to hold off on it. Maybe till Thursday, maybe till next week.

I read a post by Mandy at Biblical Homemaking that convicted me, encouraged me, had me saying, “YES!”
(and this is not the first time her writing has done that to me.)
So in the sincerest form of flattery, I am going to copy her a bit. Show you a bit of my real life.

The last two weeks have been hard. Here’s what’s happened,

.
Tuesday, 1/31
We travelled to my hometown (3ish hour drive). We went  to say goodbye to Ben’s granny, thinking it was her last day on Earth.
In typical Granny-fashion, she didn’t do what was expected. She held on for almost another week.
Our time with her was precious.
Her last words to us were, “G’day, mate.”

Granny with six of her twelve great-grandkids.
She LOVED her family.
This was our last day to see her this side of Heaven!

Thursday, 2/2
Travelled back to Houston, and had a few “normal” days at home.
even the baby was exhausted!

Monday, 2/6
Received the news that Granny was now with Jesus.
Began repacking for the trip for her funeral.

Tuesday, 2/7
I had a VERY emotional day, dealing with Granny’s death, and exhaustion, and tired and disobedient children, and homeschooling, and laundry, etc. and said some very heartless things that I regret.
Thankfully, my husband is gracious and forgiving, even when I’m irrational.
I also got to pick out my bridesmaid’s dress for one of my BFFs Nikki’s wedding. Yay!
Then went to my ladies’ Bible study and was once again blown away by how incredible it is for women to minister to women.
In the night, by baby girl was awake from 3-5 a.m., so on

Wednesday, 2/8
I woke up already exhausted.
Completed packing for our family.
Drove to our hometown for the 2nd time in 8 days.
Spent some precious time with Ben’s family.
Attended Granny’s funeral visitation.

Thursday night, 2/9
Had Granny’s {amazingly wonderful} celebration of life, officiated by Ben and sung over by Ben’s brother and his family
More time with his family
A mini-birthday celebration for me with  my parents, brother and sis’s family
Drove home.

Friday, 2/10
A very good day.
A date with my daughter.
A tiny nap.
A date with my hubby.

Saturday, 2/11
Good day, until the evening.
Hubby began experiencing chest pain, severe heart arrhythmia, dizziness.
Went to the ER, told to visit a cardiologist.
We were up until 2:30 a.m.
(Thankful for 2 good friends that night- one who took Ben to the ER, one who stayed with me while the kids slept.)

Sunday, 2/12
My husband delivered one of his best sermons ever, according to many people in the congregation.
I was in the nursery. 🙂
That evening, had a small birthday celebration.

Monday, 2/13
My birthday (and a fun giveaway)!
Spent the day talking with cardiologists, the insurance company (bleck!) and worrying.

Tuesday, 2/14
Cardiologist appointment, with good news:
With blood pressure medicine for a month or so,
all should be well.
In the evening, I was about to wake up my older daughter so we could leave the house:
me for a fun little evening out with my ladies’ Bible study,
Ben to help watch all the kiddos of the ladies.
Right before I went up, I told Ben, “Maybe I should just stay home tonight. I’m worn out, but I really want to see those ladies.”
I went up to wake Allie, and her skin was on fire.
Temp: 101.8.
I’m home. 🙂

So now, getting back to real life. What does that look like for me?

an hour at the park with my firstborn alone.
he may or may not have thrown pinecones at the ducks. don’t judge.
my three sweeties. back to the park after I picked the girls up from preschool. too beautiful of a day to stay inside!
 she’s sweet. the end.
um just in case you think this is normal, it’s not. had to capture it while I could!
 love him. thankful for him.
I made a joke on twitter that you know you’re kitchen is bad when even Instagram can’t make it look good!
 laundry pile 1.

laundry pile 2, and messy living room.
See, told you I was airing my laundry!

You know, sometimes life is messy. It’s busy, it’s hard. And God doesn’t call us to hide these things. Rather, he asks us to live in community. (See Acts 2) This entails the good and the not-so-good.
So glad I get to share it with you!
