Our Fave TV Shows {31 Days of All Things Children Day 9}

Sorry for my 2 day hiatus in my “31 Days of All Things Children” series. We spent most of last week in my hometown with my family and yesterday my dad had a heart cath and a stent put in. (Oh, and my father-in-law also had heart surgery on Thursday. They are keeping us on our toes!) We got home late last night and I am so tired, but glad we got some time with them! My traveling days with this pregnancy are coming to an end, so it was good to have some time away.

While we definitely limit our kids’ TV watching, if I am completely honest with you, each child has watched a little more than the previous. Landon would not sit still to watch a whole show until he was about 3; my third will watch Charlotte’s Web from start to finish. She’s not even 2. Ooops. Anyway, there are great TV shows out there that are both educational and and fun. I’m sharing some of our kids’  favorites! (Don’t worry, no big purple dinosaurs allowed on this blog!)

1.) Caillou
This show has probably been the longest running favorite in our house. My son is 7 and is just now outgrowing it. The voices can get a little annoying for adults but it’s not as annoying as other kid shows, in my opinion. (see above referenced purple dinosaur)

You can watch Caillou on PBS or Netflix.

2. Shaun the Sheep

I can’t say that this one is educational, but it is very entertaining for adults and kids alike. It is a word-less comedy of life on a sheep farm, with none other as Shaun the Sheep as the star of the show. It is definitely one that the whole family can enjoy.
We watch this show on Netflix. It airs on CBBC, the BBC for kiddos.

3.) Dennis the Menace

This one is a way-oldie but a goodie! My kids love the antics of Dennis and they even love good ole Mr. Wilson. It is also a show the whole family can enjoy.
We watch this on Netflix as well. (As you can probably tell, we don’t have cable, we just watch Netflix and DVDs!)

4.) Lassie

Another oldie that my kids love. Allie, our 5 year old, loves animals so this is definitely her style. My son loves it too because it’s about a little boy close to his age. It’s a little peek into 1950s culture as well. 🙂

You guessed it, we watch on Netflix.

5.) Curious George

This is the story of a fun little money who is well, curious. He gets into all kinds of trouble but learns along the way. I’m pretty sure I watched this as a kid, and it really is a cute show.

Watch on Netflix or PBS
