This post was originally published 2/11/12. I'm reposting today in honor of my daughter Allie's 6th birthday!
Ahhhh, is it just me, or is this world too B.U.S.Y.? No, not just me?
Between having a toddler, an infant, homeschooling both Landon and Allie, blogging, and being a wife, it seems that one-on-one time with her gets squeezed out too often.
As I was sitting with her one day at lunch, I had the idea that other moms might be struggling with this as well. Our daughters need our attention or they'll look for it elsewhere.
So I came up with a list of 5 things you can do with your daughter that cost little-to-no-money,
but will be priceless!
1.) Paint nails.
And by that, I mean you paint hers, and if you're really brave, let her paint yours!
Dig out your polish that might not get much use, and go to town!
Do fingers and toes. This will give you at least 30 minutes to talk to your daughter about whatever is on her heart, and share some of yours, too!
2.) Have a tea party.
If your daughter is anything like mine, she hosts a tea party at least 5 times a week with her stuffed animals. Why not join her? I did this a few weeks ago, and she was SUCH a good hostess! She made sure all of the animals and I were served before herself. I always learn something fun when just sitting down and chatting with her. And chatting is something she does well.
3.) Cook with her.
This is one of mine and Allie's favorite things to do. You have to cook anyway, right?
And the number of gals entering into marriage these days not knowing how to cook is a little sad, so why not give your daughter a head start? One of Allie's favorite things to do is crack the eggs- and she does a great job!
(My first ever vlog will be coming soon, featuring not myself but Allie!)

4.) Interview her over lunch or dessert.
(These options are much cheaper than dinner!)
I took Allie to lunch and wrote down several questions:
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
This hat was fun.
If you are a friend of ours, a missionary, and currently in Hawaii, she wanted to get this for you!
We got something else (better!) instead. :)
I love this pic!
Captures her fun-loving personality.
I really, really wanted these shoes.
But they were very tall.
And $30. For a girl who spent $12 on her wedding shoes,
I knew that was too steep for a pair I wouldn't wear that much.
But they were awesome.
Oh, I also let her pick her outfit out today.
Her outfit did not look much different from some of the ones in F21!
With a few bucks, an hour or two, and a little creativity, you can create meaningful moments with your daughter. I'd love to hear your ideas in the comments!
If you're visiting from Blogelina today, welcome!
I am so excited to have you in my little corner,
and hope you'll say hi so I can check out your blog as well!
