//all things new
There's nothing like a new year to make us think of the fresh, the untainted, the starting over.
Something about a gleaming, blank page on the calendar provokes us to examine:
What is great about my life?
{my family, my freedom, my friendships}
What are areas that could use tweaking?
{reading more non-fiction than fiction, eating less sugar}
What are some things I could let go completely?
{impatience and a few pounds!}
I haven't made New Year's Resolutions in a while, although I did an experiment last year where I gave up one specific thing each month. I achieved this goal for almost half the year, which is way longer than I ever kept any year-long resolutions.
One area, however, in which I wish to make goal is for this blog.
When I first started in the middle of 2010, I cranked out about 5-7 posts a week- a rate at which I cannot currently sustain, at least with quality content. I've had another baby since then, and along with homeschooling my two older kids and raising my ever-increasingly-fun toddler- there's not a whole lot of time left if I ever want to see my husband or have clean dishes.
So for this year, I want to write 2 posts a week. That's it. But good posts that you'll actually want to read {I hope!}, and if I do more, then it's a bonus.
I also started writing an e-book last year I never finished, and I plan to spend more time working on that and {hopefully!} publishing it!
And if you'd like to read a few posts that were popular on the blog this year, here are the links:
A tribute to my late granny-in-law, and an Australian recipe
Pink lemonade frosted sugar cookies
and one of my favorites ever:
5 Reasons to be an Organ Donor
Here's a hint:
Here's to a beautiful 2013!
Those sound like fabulous goals!! I'm with you that I never make resolutions, maybe 'cuz I don't keep them or because if I need to work on something, it usually can't wait until January! I have 2 kiddos and I know the struggle to blog, but I'm with you--I try to blog 2x/week and it's made it enjoyable without stressing me out. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI agree, wonderful goals! I, too, don't make resolutions because I can't keep them either! Twice a week posting sounds great...I'm currently working on planning out an editorial schedule, probably posting 2-3 times a week. Quality definitely does trump quantity! Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals Kelli! I can relate to many of those!!!
