Creating Christmas Memories

I am so thrilled that the holiday season is upon us! Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and our 15th wedding anniversary is in there as well! So much celebrating! Make sure to read to the end- I have a GREAT holiday offer for you!

I love creating family traditions for us- especially ones that are fun for our large family. Here are a few ways we enjoy creating Christmas memories. One tip: Choose traditions you feel fairly certain you can keep up with! Your kids will hold you to whatever you choose! 🙂

1.) Christmas Eve is spent just with our “little” (immediate) family. The week leading up to Christmas is usually filled with large family gatherings-which I adore- but by Christmas Eve we are ready for it to be just us. We enjoy a meal made up of our favorite appetizers and chocolate fondue for dessert. It’s one of my favorites for sure!

2.) Usually during the Christmas holidays, we go to the nearest beach for a night or two. After all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s fun to just relax and enjoy our family. (Although, we’re about to start needing suite! 7 people in one room is a little cozy!) This time also coincides with our anniversary so sometimes we’ll have one night with just the two of us, then we’ll get the kids for the second night. You can read about last year’s trip here. This tradition is definitely one of our more involved (both in planning and financially) but traveling to the beach during Christmas is definitely cheaper than during the summer. Plus, there are almost no crowds!

3.) Enjoying Favorite Holiday Scents

I’m one of those people that can smell a certain brand of shampoo and be immediately transported to my college dorm bathroom. I LOVE how scents can bring up buried memories!

During Christmastime, I almost always have a candle burning, and holiday-scented handsoap is a must! One of our favorite scents for the holidays is peppermint. I usually have peppermint handsoap by each sink and every year I get excited to set it out. It’s a very inexpensive way to add a bit of holiday cheer to your home.

I’m so excited because this year one of my very favorite companies, Grove.co, is offering my readers who are first-time buyers from Grove $35 of FREE goodies from one of my very favorite brands, Mrs. Meyers. See all the goodies you get*?
