How Have I Not Shown You This?!?

If there’s something my husband I know allllll about, it’s remodeling a kitchen. We’ve done it twice from the bare walls to completed kitchen, and I have to say we got much better at it between the first and second time. 😉 I loved designing the kitchen we’ve had since November in our farmhouse– it’s definitely the most striking room in our house. (And I just realized I have not yet shown you one single picture of this new space! How is that?)

It was the one room where I was pretty stubborn about what I wanted- gray cabinets, aqua subway tile, a farmhouse sink, and a 36″ stove (versus the standard 30″).  We were able to save tons in other areas (we got the marble tile for our countertops for a total of $120! No, I did not leave off a zero!) so that there was room in the budget for these desires.

Here it is completed: My happy place!

ahh I really do love it!

(Also? This is what we started with! Eek!)

The kitchen is truly my favorite place to be. We host church gatherings and families over for dinner on a regular basis, plus we have a large family to start with, so our kitchen gets put to use a ton. My kids all love helping me cook as well, which I love! I’m also always trying out and creating new recipes like this one for Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie.

One thing I wish I’d seen before we bought some of our appliances is the new slate kitchen product line by GE Appliances.  These stainless steel beauties have a warm natural look and would look great with either light or dark cabinetry. The very best part of these appliances for those of us with littles running around? They’re smudge-proof! If you have stainless steel you KNOW how little fingerprints (and big ones too) end up all over your appliances.

I love that they have prices for all budgets as well. The gas ranges start at $750 (like the one below) and I love this since I’m always on the hunt for a good deal on great products. If you’re wanting to go all out and love cooking, GE also has a beautiful double oven- you can set the temperature controls completely separately for all those times you’re needing to cook two different dishes at once at completely different temps.

GE also has my husband’s dream refrigerator- a French-door model with the first ever Keurig BUILT IN to the door! Ahhh. You can check it out here.

You can also check out the full line of GE Slate Appliances over at HGTV- and get inspired for your kitchen remodel. I’m having to remind myself that yes, it is way too soon to paint my gray cabinets aqua! 😉 (Isn’t it?)
