My heart is breaking…

… for so many reasons.

It’s been an emotionally fraught week. I’ve cried in front of my son’s doctor, at the zoo, at a meeting, in the car, at another meeting. Yep. That about sums it up. So. much. going. on. Another earthquake in Nepal (one of my dearest friends and her husband were born and raised there so I hurt for them and the devastation to their country), a situation with a baby who’s very sick that I’ve come to love that seems impossible, and less-than-stellar news at my son’s doctor’s appointment.

I’m always looking for small ways I can help alleviate others’ suffering. I’ve committed that this blog will always be used for good. Our family supports three kids through this blog- two through Compassion and one through World Vision. And as other needs become evident, I want to use what I can to bless others. Same goes for my Jamberry business. I love that they have a fundraising option for NPOs, and the company will donate 10% of their profit from a fundraiser.

I’ve set up 2 fundraisers this week: One for Nepal (this money will go to Samaritan’s Purse for their Nepal relief efforts- a highly reputable NPO) and one for the little baby that we’re trying to help.

Here’s a little more to his story: He has the same liver disease as my son. His family came to the USA because the baby needs a liver transplant. However, since they are here on a tourist visa and the baby will need long-term care PLUS the fact that the parents are unable to work on this visa, he is ineligible for listing at this time. It’s heartbreaking and there are so many complex intricacies that are hard to comprehend, but this family needs help. More than anything- prayer. Prayer that the baby’s health will be stable enough until we can figure out the best way to get him the help he needs. Prayer that the parents are able to navigate a foreign country, a massive medical system, all in a language in which they are not fluent. But finances are also crucial- they need to begin saving to get an apartment.

So if you would like to help either of these causes, I would be so grateful. The Nepal relief will get 25% of sales and donations to Baby L will get 20% (because Jamberry is unable to donate to a person, it has to be an NPO- all of these donations are from my profits.)

I really, REALLY appreciate you. My readers have been alongside me years, and this blog wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you. (And I’m off to cry again!)

  1. So sorry about all of these things! So many hard things going on in the world that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Praying.

  2. I totally understand what you mean, and I just have to step back, often, and spend time with Jesus, casting all my cares on Him, remembering that He is totally in control!
