Patio Furniture Redo

A few weeks ago, right before my older daughter Allie and I left town for a few days, I decided that our back patio needed some sprucing up. I bleached the concrete pad by the back door, I got a few plants and new pots, and we rearranged a bit.

It was all good but I knew that our picnic table needed some serious attention so we decided to do a patio furniture redo. I picked up some teal and gray spray paint at Home Depot one night and just mentioned what I wanted to do. Ben initially wanted to just buy new furniture but I wanted to go the more economical (read: cheap) way and work with what we had.

It was pretty bad off as you can see:

I loved the white and before you think I’m crazy for buying white outdoor furniture with 4 kids, we only had 2 when we bought it. Some I’m only half crazy. 🙂 Anyway, our dog decided that the chairs were a good chew toy, there was mildew all over the table top (real appetizing I tell ya) and one of the slats on the bench was broken.

While we were gone on our trip, Ben called and asked me to confirm how I wanted it painted- all this while having a 9 year old, almost-4- year old and almost-2-year-old in his care. He sawed off the ends of the chair backs to get rid of the chewed look, he fixed the slat with a 1×4 board, and he painted it all. He texted me photos during the process, and I love how it turned out!

What do you think? I LOVE how it turned out! The teal was a little more aqua-ish than I wanted but I think it looks great with the gray chairs and bench.

How about a few more pics, since I don’t think it will look this good for long? 🙂

We don’t usually have pillows on the benches but I took them out for the photo shoot, and ended up leaving them there for a few meals on the deck. It made for comfier sitting for sure.

The lantern was a Christmas gift from my friend Fabia. We both love teal. 🙂

So this project cost less than $20, and a new set would have been at least $200. Even though it’s on the small side for our big ole family, it will work for now.
