Delicious Skinny Summer Beverages {free printable!}

“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Dr. Pepper Snapple Group but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TENways  http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Recently, my husband and I began a quest to get healthier. When he returned from Africa earlier this year, he had lost around 10 pounds and was determined not to gain it back! Even though I’ve done countless diets and eating plans over the years, this is the first time he’s joined me. 🙂 We immediately embarked on a new eating plan called the Shred. I even created a health organizer help me remember to drink lots of water and take my vitamins!

One of the major things that keeps us on track is having treats that taste great but don’t have tons of calories. We try to keep most of our snacks under 100 calories. I’ve been drinking Dr. Pepper TEN for a few years – it has the full flavor of Dr. Pepper and no funky aftertaste! My husband is a huge fan of it as well.

We headed to Wal-Mart one night of one our dates to pick up some of other drinks in the TEN beverage line. Ben had a little too much fun helping me pick out our flavors…

I was so excited for the chance to try the TEN sodas  7UP TEN, Sunkist TEN and A&W Rootbeer TEN as well. The root beer is just phenomenal- I’m a huge root beer fan but don’t drink it that much because it’s hard finding a good diet version. This one certainly fits the bill! I used the 7UP and Sunkist TEN drinks to make a few yummy, skinny summery drinks and I’m so excited to share them with you!

First up, this spritzer is so ridiculously easy to make that you’ll find yourself wanting it over and over this summer! Just add 1/2 cup low-cal grape juice to 1 cup of 7UP TEN and squeeze a bit of lemon and lime in if you like. Delish! low-cal grape citrus spritzer

Next up, I knew I wanted to make a creamy-type drink but couldn’t decide what. One night it hit me- the Sunkist TEN would make a delicious dreamsicle! And it did. Just throw the Sunkist, vanilla frozen yogurt, a bit of coconut milk and some vanilla in the blender and voila- a yummy, summery drink! I made it while my hubby was gone one day and when he came home and tasted it, he said “this tastes just like a dreamsicle!” That made me happy.

This creamy orange dreamsicle has only 110 calories and is the perfect light treat for spring and summer!

And just so you can keep these drink recipes handy this summer, I created this free printable. Just print it out, stick it on your fridge, and keep a supply of 7UP TEN and Sunkist TEN handy! You can also check out other TEN products on their website, Facebook and Twitter.

I’ve got a few other tips that have helped me get a little healthier over the years:

Workout with a friend– I know you’ve probably heard this one before, but this is imperative for me! From working at the Y with my friends Fabia and Mitzi to walking with my friend Nikki to doing boot camp with my friend Linda, working out with a friend has ALWAYS been part of my plan.

Spend time preparing healthy snacks– when we first started our eating-better plan, I set down for about an hour one day and made out ziploc bags full of 100 calorie snacks. That way, I could grab one on the way out the door and not be tempted by swinging through and grabbing fast food. (Check out this recipe for a yummy on-the-go-snack!)

Try new foods– I think the reason so many of us give up easily on eating is because we get in a rut on what we eat, we get bored, then we go out for a pizza buffet. (Nothing wrong with that once-in-a-while, but it can derail me for a few weeks!) I’ve enjoyed trying new foods the last few years- I’d never had kale, chard, mango, or orzo pasta and now they’re some of our favorites!

Hopefully these summer beverages will help keep you on track with your fitness goals, without sacrificing flavor! Oh, and when you go out to buy your TEN products, be sure to print out this coupon!  $0.50 off of the purchase of TWO 2 Liter bottles or TWO 4-pack cans of 7UP TEN, A&W TEN, Canada Dry TEN, RC TEN or Sunkist TEN soda. 1. I’ve never been able to ‘do’ the 10 products.. something about the taste, but I have pinned this because I wonder if I mix them w something if they will not be so ‘different’.

  2. Mmm, those sound good! I haven’t actually tried any of the TEN products; we very rarely have soft drinks, so when we do, we splurge and go for the real thing. 🙂 I’m looking forward to trying your recipes, though; a new summer drink is always fun!

  3. I do like the Dr. Pepper 10! I want to try the root beer now, too. Thanks for the summery drink recipes!

  4. I am definitely going to try this – on a diet to get my beach bod, so these skinny summer beverages would be perfect!

  5. These drinks look great! Thanks for the great reminders on keeping healthy! Checking this out from marvelous Mondays!
