Small Changes: Playing Music in the Home

I have a confession. Music is not something I naturally think about playing in our home. It always seems that there is too much noise and chaos anyway, so why add something else? But I’ve discovered that when I go through a phase of having music playing, the atmosphere is actually calmer.

31 days of small changes

Now, this doesn’t mean heavy metal or hard rock during the day. While my husband loves loud music and there’s a time and place for it, it definitely adds to the chaos for me, especially if we’re trying to do schoolwork! But if I have worship music going, or something soft and instrumental, then I automatically feel calmer. And it’s harder to get upset with my kids if “Worthy is the Lamb” or something like that is playing!

My favorite Pandora stations are “Solo Piano Radio,” “Praise and Worship Radio” and “Transiberian Orchestra Radio” during the Christmas season.

  1. I totally agree having music playing is relaxing. I don’t have any little ones at home but find I’m more productive when there is music on. And I love Transiberian Orchestra during the Christmas season.

  2. I am the same way! NEVER think to put it on, but whenever Andrew does, I’m like: this is great, I feel so much better!

  3. I like Praise Baby on Pandora!
