This crazy week… before pictures

Well this week I am taking an unintentional break from my regular stuff… The last two days were more personal posts.. you can read them here and here. Wednesday and Thursday I am guest-writing for other blogs.. check back then for those! I am very excited to have two lovely ladies allow me to write for them.

So today, since I’m mixing it all up anyway, and because my older kids are away and you know what that means- PROJECTS!- I thought I’d clue you in on what I’m doing this week.

We are redoing our bedroom! Yay! I bought a comforter I love in March (the one we had is simply too hot for Houston), and it totally didn’t match our current color scheme, so we thought we’d take advantage of having only one child instead of three and paint it up!

I’m going to take the opportunity to use this as sort of a step-by-step low-budget makeover tutorial- because that is exactly what it is going to be! And who doesn’t like to see a before and after? 🙂

Here is our room before: (as in last night!) Beware- it is messy. Don’t judge. Somehow in the grand scheme of things, our bedroom seems to get bumped to last-of-the-list when it comes to cleaning and organizing. I cleaned it really well right before Ben came home, but after the events of last week, it was already needing some more attention.

Our bedroom walls have been some sort of shade of brown and/or green for nine of the ten years we have been married. I do still love me some sage green, but it is time for a change.
See the flowers on the wall behind the bed? They are wall decals, $20 from IKEA- look for them to reappear in another form when the room is done. 🙂

Yep, that’s my desk. Who wants to come do my paperwork for me? 🙂 The desk also won’t be the same color by the end of the week.

The photo folding-thingy (its name escapes me right now) is a futile attempt at keeping the clutter on the desk hidden. You can also see in the lower left corner my hope chest. My dad and I built that together when I was in about 3rd grade. I already repainted it once, but it {hopefully} will be getting an update this week as well.

Our dresser. I only painted one wall green in this house because I was doing it as a surprise for Ben two years ago and only wanted to attempt what I could do alone in one day. So the other three walls have remained the same awful contract-grade flat off-whitish color from when we bought the house.

Oh, this doesn’t have anything to do with my room remodel? Oh, well. She makes me happy!

Check back tomorrow for an update!

Have a great afternoon!
