WIWW: how to get big-time fancy for little cash

Last week, my husband and I had the privilege of attending a fundraiser for the American Liver Foundation. Our son Landon was born with a pediatric liver disease, so this cause is near and dear to our hearts. We are very thankful for generous friends who invited us!

A day or so before the event, I took my two older kids to Target to find a dress. I tried a few and posted pics on Instagram for people to tell me which one they liked best. One of them I really liked but I already had a similar one.

(also, taking homeschooled kids to Target during school hours is not recommended. The dressing room attendant asked what our plans for the day were and Landon informed her, “having donuts for lunch!” Mom of the year, right here!)

I asked a few employees if they had anymore dresses, and not one, but two of them suggested I go to Ross to get a dress. Well, if the employees of another store are telling me, I figured I should go. And I don’t know why I don’t remember to go to Ross the first stop, every time. Seriously.

I tried on a few, and this is what I ended up with:
Price of the dress: $17!!
(I found this somewhat-similar one online for $298!)
Seriously, I couldn’t have been happier.

And the evening was amazing. Here is our chef, the owner of Red Dot Cuisine. If you’re ever in the Houston area, check it out. The food was delicious and the chef was hilarious.
(case in point: “Ever since I bought this restaurant, I sleep like a baby. I wake up every two hours and cry!)

One of his delicious creations. (I think we had six courses! Six! And I ate all of them!)
This was tandoori chicken and lentils on the side. Yum yum.
These ladies are near and dear to my heart. Each one of us have a child with biliary atresia and they are a fantastic support group. Even though none of us would have chosen this path for our child, I am so thankful to have a support system like them!

Oh, and how does my hubby get big-time fancy for little cash? Buy a suit about six years ago and never buy another one! 😉 Happy Wednesday!
