Summer Essentials {Make your own Iced Coffee}

Ummm… iced coffee. I love it! Maybe even better than hot. No, definitely better than hot.

And now that McDonald’s has it, it is so much cheaper to get than Starbuck’s. And that’s about as inexpensive as it gets, right? Wrong! I love to make it at home… and it is really good! There are as many different ways to mix it up as there are people that enjoy it!

Here is the basic idea:
I freeze leftover coffee in ice cube trays. This way, when the ice melts, it won’t water down your coffee! We keep a little stash going- there always seems to be a little bit of coffee left in the pot at the end of the day.

Brew fresh coffee and allow it to cool. You can refrigerate if you’re that patient {I’m usually not.} Use flavored coffee if you like.

Fill a tall glass {20 oz or so} with about 10 ice {coffee} cubes. Then, fill about 3/4 way with coffee. Add 1/2 and 1/2 or creamer to fill up the glass. I love the new Bliss creamers by Coffee Mate. They use real sugar instead of anything partially-hydrogenated or high-fructose. And I don’t even have to add more sweetener when I use it.

If you want an extra-special treat, add sweetened condensed milk. (about 2 Tbs.) It may sound strange, but it is so good! {and probably totally cancels out using natural creamer! ha} I must give credit to the Pioneer Woman for this trick. Or should I say, blame her for this trick. 🙂 Also, she cold brews her coffee. I haven’t been that adventurous yet, but I am sure it is yummy too.
