31 Days: The Goodness of Goodwill Shopping

finance 750 day 9

Although I love a good bargain, it took me a long time to hop on the Goodwill bandwagon, because honestly, some things just aren’t as cheap as I can get them on clearance brand new. But then again, some things are! After seeing my blog (and real life) friend Abbie’s repeatedly successful trips to Goodwill, I decided to try on my own in the last year or two.

The Goodness of Goodwill at eatprayreadlove.com

I got this entire outfit for right at $20 at Goodwill (two separate trips)- except for the shoes. I was born with those. 😉

Sweater: Goodwill, $6 (I need to get a picture of the back of this sweater next time- it’s really funky)

Purple jeans/LOFT/Goodwill, $7

Teal purse/NineWest/Goodwill, $7

I seriously love this purse. Teal is my absolute favorite color- I even have a teal dresser in my living room– and this bag is in almost perfect condition. And for $7? Can’t beat it!

The key to thrift shopping is patience. The location I went to had literally 3 racks of women’s jeans and I dug through almost all of them. All the jeans are priced about the same- $7-$8. I will pay that for a pair of jeans that’s a good brand, but not Wal-Mart jeans that I could get for that amount on sale brand new.

If you want to go shopping at Goodwill, prepare to spend a little time, and hopefully little money!

Do you enjoy secondhand stores? Do you ever buy clothes when you go?

  1. I love thrifting! I would say 95% of my wardrobe if from thrift stores! I agree though that sometimes things can be cheaper on clearance than at Goodwill- you just have to use your best judgement!
