I couldn’t let this Financial Savvy series wrap up without a mention of grocery shopping at Aldi- my new favorite place to buy our grub. We just got one in our area a few months ago, and I’m a huge fan already! Their prices are super-low and their store brand is fantastic, almost always just as good (or better!) than the name brand.

Some of the best buys you can get at Aldi- #6 is unbelievable!

So just how inexpensive is grocery shopping at Aldi? I’ll let you see for yourself with this photo!

1.) 3 lb bag of gala apples- $1.79 (That’s like 60 cents a pound! Unheard of!)

2.) bag of veggie chips- $1.79

3.) jar of green olives- $1.19- our whole family loves olives! This jar will last approximately 9 minutes.

4.)Peanut butter- $1.89- we inhale this stuff too.

5.) Mangoes- 99 cents each- sometimes I get them as low as 59 cents!

6.) Milk- $1.99 a gallon. All day, every day!

7.) Beef jerky sticks (kind of hidden behind the taco seasoning)- $2.99

8.) Taco seasoning- 59 cents (Will make venison tacos soon- more on that later!)

9.) Crushed red pepper- 99 cents

10.) Macaroni and cheese- THIRTY-NINE CENTS a box! (I felt like that needed to be emphasized!)

11.) Natural PB- $1.89

12.) Queso dip- $2.29 (Why is it that fake cheese is so expensive other places?!?)

13.) Dog treats, pack of 2- 49 cents

14.) chocolate PB cups- $2.29- oh.my.goodness. These put Reese’s to shame- the peanut butter is incredibly creamy and they’re just good. Kinda the antithesis to my boot camp, but again, did I mention they’re good?

So there ya have it. Some prices are half of what I’d pay at any other store. I love going in each week or so and seeing what great deals they have. I’ve bought bags of baby carrots for as low 39 cents, cantaloupe for 79 cents, and fresh pineapples for 99 cents. Hard to beat. Oh, and they’re getting an organic line as well!

  1. I have no idea where the closest Aldi is… but I remember growing up and my mom would shop there all the time 🙂 The items are ridiculously cheap! 🙂

  2. See, I totally should have read this before I went. We just got one just down the road from us…the closest grocery store to us in fact.

  3. I love Aldi! But, apples at our local Aldi run $3.69 for 3# and milk is now $2.49 a gallon. I see this post is about a year old, so either it’s a locale thing or prices have really gone up. Or both! Still, one of my favorite places to shop.

  4. Love, love, love Aldi! A few of my Aldi favs are…Brie, hummus and organic produce.
