Boot camp- is it worth it?

Okay, I admit it. I’m one of those weird people that enjoys working out. In the last two years it’s become a habit and I’ve faithfully hit up the YMCA 2-3 times a week with different friends- it’s physically and socially good for me!

In September, I decided to try something different. One of my workout buddies told me that HitFit  in Houston was having a deal on Living Social– a month of boot camp for a really good price. I decided to give it a try- “boot camp” always sounded so intense and well, intriguing. I talked another friend into going with me and we set out to conquer the world.

And I fell in love. Like, I’m probably-going-to-breakup-with-the-YMCA-membership kind of love. It’s so encouraging to show up and have friendly faces meet you and an excellent teacher who pushes you to do things you never knew you could do!

So, what do we do at boot camp? I’m so glad you asked! Here are a few pictures to give you a clue. (Although a trial session would give you a better idea! )

At the top– we’re doing squats as part of the warm-up. The warm-up is sometimes harder than the actual workout I was doing on my own before! Middle left– mountain climbers. They surely aren’t fun but help in stamina and leg strength. Middle right– A picture with my beautiful teacher Valerie. She turns 60 in January and is in amazing shape. She really is an inspiration. (Also? I mentioned on Facebook a few weeks ago that she did 200 jumping jacks without stopping!) Bottom right- lunges. ‘Nough said.

I have been going to Hit Fit boot camp 2-3 times a week since September 9, and we haven’t done the same exact workout twice. I love the continual variety and and the camaraderie with the group. My kids and I have even done a playdate with one of the other participants and her daughter.

Our class- what a fun group they are!

Oh, and did I mention? I’ve gone from a size 12 to a size 8 jeans in just a month and a half! And that my friends, is what I call a workout that’s worth it!

Although the Living Social promotion is over, HitFit is still a great deal at $40 a month. Plus I love the fact that it’s outside- enjoying the beautiful fall weather. Come join me!

Disclaimer: I am receiving a free month for this promotion; however all opinions are mine.
