Making a House a Home & Foodie Friday

Ah, November 1st! A whole new month lay ahead of us, and a busy one, too! Just our “little” family has three birthdays this month- that’s half of us! Not to mention Thanksgiving and the birth of my best friend’s first baby. So much excitement!

I have some very fun things coming up on the blog as well- think giveaways that are worth more than a few dollars. 😉 I enjoyed writing about Financial Savvy for the month of October, but I’m very ready to move on to a new topic- Making a House a Home. So many people who come to my house mention how “homey”  and cozy it feels, and I would love to help others achieve that feel! (The greatest compliment anyone ever gave me was that my living room looked like Pier 1. Right now it hardly looks like that, with toys strewn everywhere and white dog hair all over the place! ha!)

God gives us the incredible privilege of taking care of our homes for our families, and it’s something I love doing. And decorating is far from being the only thing that makes a house a home- it also includes the atmosphere, the food, the traditions, and most importantly, the people. I can’t wait to share with all of you all that God has laid on my heart for this series. I hope you’ll join!

I’ll also have a loose schedule for each a few days of each week so you’ll know what to expect-

Tuesdays will be Decorating Direction, where I’ll be showing some of the decor in my home and show how to arrange collages on the wall, and make items for your home.

Fridays will be Foodie Fridays– a new recipe each week! Yum!

Sundays will be Free Scripture Print Sundays– each week I’ll design a new printable featuring either Scripture or an inspiring quote- and it will be yours for the taking! (Don’t forget to sign up for my e-mail subscription to get 3 exclusive printables that won’t be published on the blog)

So let’s get started with an easy recipe, shall we?

My daughter Allie has fallen in love with Hawaiian rolls- you know those slightly-sweet morsels of goodness that can perfectly house any sandwich, or stand alone? (Ok, maybe I love them, too!)

hawaiian roll cheesy sliders

I buy them at Aldi on a regular basis, and one day I whipped up this recipe for lunch. Just adjust the quantity according to what you need. See? Easy!

You’ll need for 2 servings:
4 Hawaiian rolls
4 slices Black Forest ham
cheese- I used mozzarella marinated with crushed red pepper- yum!
dijon mustard
2 tbs. butter
black sesame seeds
1/2 tsp garlic salt

Melt butter and add sesame seeds and garlic salt. Split rolls in half and smear lightly with djion mustard. Add ham and cheese. Close rolls and brush tops with butter mixture.

Toast at 375 degrees (I used our toaster oven) for about 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and top is slightly browned. Enjoy!

These hawaiian roll cheesy sliders would make a great app for a your NYE or Super-Bowl Party!

  1. I’m really looking forward to your series! I was excited to see your topic when you shared it on Facebook earlier. And I need help with a picture collage, so I’m hoping you post that one soon!

That’s a yummy recipe! We’ve made something similar and it’s delicious, especially with a nice bowl of soup on a cold day.

    • Thanks Gabby! I’m so glad you stopped by. Do you mean help with hanging a collage on the wall? If so, I’m doing that very soon! 🙂
      Have a great day!
