Fun, free activity for Mama and the Babies!

Fun, free activity for the littles using items you already have lying around the house! And mama gets something productive done, too! Winwin!

With the temperatures still hovering at or above 100 F, I am getting desperate for indoor ideas! Today, I had the idea to let the kids cut up my ever-increasing pile magazines and make collages. Nothing too original, but then I had the idea to cut out recipes I had been eyeing and make my own art! And who doesn’t love easy crafts for kids that also let mama get a little bit done, too?

easy crafts for kids that the mamas also enjoy!
I always look at the recipes and ooh and aah over them, but don’t really want a stack of magazines in my already over-flowing kitchen. So they usually get recycled or sent to Texas Children’s Hospital so the patients’ parents have something to read.

But today, I was determined to at least get some of the recipes together in a 3-ring binder! I ripped out the pages with recipes that looked interesting and if there were lots of ads on the pages, I cut around them, then glued the recipes to notebook paper. Full-page recipes I put into my notebook whole.

This was really fun and I hope to do it the next time a pile of magazines accumulates- which won’t be long.  {I receive both Ladies Home Journal and Better Homes and Gardens as a gift each month.} The kids had fun, and I was “doing a craft” with them, while accomplishing something as well. Not bad for a Monday afternoon in a record-breaking heat wave!

What have you done with your kiddos in this heat? What other easy crafts for kids do you enjoy?
