In honor of summer, I wanted to do a series on hot {ha!} dollar-store deals on essentials for this season. First, I want to share one of my very favorite purchases from Dollar General: sunglasses. I go through an average of 3 pairs of year- what with crushing them, losing them, leaving them behind, and so on. (sounds a bit like a country song, huh?)
SO. I am not going to spend more than $4 a pair on sunglasses. Yes, that is right. Four dollars is pretty much my max, and has been for the last six years or so {read: since I’ve had kids!}
They have worked very well for me. I don’t think any have broken of their own accord- only when they have some help from moi. Or moi’s offspring. And, they are cute!
Other favorite places to get cheap sunglasses: clearance racks at Wal-Mart and Claire’s. I have found several pairs for $1 at these stores and the great thing is, they don’t look cheap!

My sunglasses…well lets see the last 3 pair have been from The Gap $10.00, a box of junk that I paid $5.00 for the whole box of goodies… and the Dollar Store $1.00 (haven’t used yet)I keep them in the car in there wrapper just in case I forget to grab a pair.. but they are cute… I should go get some more while they still have them!
