The Flip-Flopped Experiment {Don’t Add to your List}

I mentioned in my first post the flip-flops I purchased at Dollar Tree. They were oh-so-cute black damask print, which if you know me, know that I love me some black damask! {I do own a coat, wallet, and a few other items by that nature as well as a COUCH}

Anyway, I wore the flip flops, coincidentally, on a trip to buy more shoes. My dear friend Nikki gave me a giftcard to DSW for my birthday and few months later, we took a trip so I could finally use it! We ate lunch, spent the better part of an hour in DSW,{where I became completely and utterly overwhelmed by the amount of footwear present}, went to another shoe store, and also I went to Ulta for the first time. Oh, how I love Ulta, but that is neither here nor there.
The whole trip was no more than 3 hours, and as I was walking into my front door, the entire strap came off the sole of the flip flop! I was very sad- even though they only cost me a buck- I truly did love them! The good part was that if they had broken earlier, at least I had another pair of shoes with me. 🙂
So, in summary, don’t buy the $1 flip flops, at least from this store. Apparently at least $3 is necessary to buy quality summer time shoes.
However, if I decide to splurge and give them another chance- thus spending another dollar- I will let you know how the second experiment goes. I will be sure to carry a spare pair in my purse in case of an emergency.
What are the cheapest shoes YOU have purchased? Were they worth their moolah?

  1. My cheapest pair of shoes EVER were actually two pairs of shoes (BOGO style)…for a whopping $1.76. That’s EIGHTY-EIGHT cents each (you can’t capitalize numbers, but you should be able to, imho). I got both of them at Bealls over 5 years ago, and I can no longer remember why-in-the-world they were so cheap, but, even though I eventually gave one pair away because I never wore them, I still own the other (a pair of adorable sky-high MIA wedges with gold-tone straps), and they happen to still be in fantastic condition in addition to being one of my favorite shoes I’ve ever owned. Not too shabby for a buck, seventy-size…of course, there was the time I walked out of Famous Footwear without paying a single cent for a pair of Crocs…and no, I didn’t steal them. ; ) Great idea, Kelli!

  2. Abbie, I would say you have me beat! 🙂 Your shoes sound like they were definitely their $1.76.
    You will have to tell me about your Crocs….

  3. A pair of etnies skater shoes never worn at a yard sale for $1. Brand new. Super comfy. Best dollar spent ever!!
